Mindset hack: Dream big for more success and happiness
I often wonder what goes on inside people’s minds when they’re working on more success and happiness. Then I turn to my human behaviour and human psychology textbooks to get some answers. Sometimes, I’ll ask my coach about it. You see, we all have innate behaviours that shape the way we live our lives.
We start our lives with big dreams (if you were born in the 80’s or 90’s) then you might have dreamt about becoming a cowboy or a scientist, or a teacher or an astronaut. Those were such big dreams because we didn’t know any different. We were encouraged to dream big.
And then, once we started to sit for exams, we had to start limiting our dreams. We needed to decide what we wanted to do with our lives (more specifically, our careers) by the time we were 14. But we hadn’t even lived life. We hadn’t tried on the cowboy boots yet but we had to decide.
And decide we did. Then we live our lives according to what we’re supposed to do rather than what we want to do. This applies to our careers, our health, our relationships. We stop having fun, instead we think fun is a night out, overspending and getting drunk. We think fun and joy and happiness comes from holidays, handbags, trainers and gadgets.
Only to get into our late 20’s to mid 30’s to think, what the hell am I doing with my life? How can I have more success and happiness? Is there enough time to achieve it all?
If you find yourself at this crossroads too, this episode is for you. You are your superpower. You have everything within you to do and be what you want. And.. I’ll show you how.
