Wouldn’t it be great if the voices in your head would give you permission to be you instead of all the self-doubt, criticism and general negative press we manage to generate for ourselves so effortlessly?
Well, there’s a way you can. YOU need to give YOURSELF permission to be you. There’s no one else who’s going to cheer you on like your own self, so get to know her/him and make sure your conversations flow towards positivity and growth!
We’ve all been raised in a culture that tells us that we have to be perfect. We have to be thin, we have to have the best exam results, we have to have a great career and make a lot of money, and then we can be happy. But that’s not true! It’s never been true.
Do you start making excuses for why you’re not good enough? Do you give up on yourself? No! You don’t hear those voices because they’re not real! They’re just part of our culture—they’re just other people telling us how we should live our lives, or how they think our lives should look like. And they don’t know anything about us or our lives! They don’t know what we’ve gone through, or how hard it was for us to get here today (wherever “here” is). But most importantly: they don’t know how amazing YOU are!
