Going out of your comfort zone isn’t always easy, but it’s a necessary part of growth and development. The more you push yourself to do things that don’t feel natural, the more you’ll learn about yourself—and the better off you’ll be.
Your comfort zone is a place you go to when you want to feel safe and secure. It’s where you go when you need to recharge. But there are times when it’s not healthy or helpful to stay in your comfort zone. Especially if you’re trying to push yourself toward growth and improvement.
When you step out of your comfort zone, you’ll find yourself in situations that are unfamiliar and unpredictable. This means that you’ll have to adapt to the situation quickly. You’ll need to make decisions based on what’s happening right now rather than the past or in the future. This will help you learn how to react quickly when things change, which is an important skill for success.
By stepping out of your comfort zone, you can test how far you’re willing to go to achieve something. For example, let’s say that running a marathon is on your bucket list. However, it seems impossible because it requires so much training time. If you put in all that training time anyway and run the marathon anyway, then at least now you know what your limits are. Maybe next time around it won’t seem so daunting. This is because there’s no longer any mystery surrounding how hard it will be (and therefore how much effort is required). In this way, stepping out of your comfort zone helps you figure out who you really are as an individual—and that’s always a good thing!
You’ll be more confident in yourself because you’re trying things you’ve not done before. You won’t need any self-help book to help because you’re the evidence that it works!
By building resilience, you’ll be better able to handle challenges that come your way by bouncing back to keep moving forward.
You’ll have a better sense of who you are, and what you want out of life—and that can help you grow into the person you’re meant to be.
Stepping out of your comfort zone will help you learn new skills, which can lead to higher pay and better job opportunities in the future.
It’ll make you more interesting! Our lives are made up of so many different moments, but the ones we remember most fondly are often the ones where we stepped out of our comfort zones and tried something new or unusual—the times when we felt most alive and connected with other people (and even nature).
If you’re like most people, you’ve probably been told that stepping out of your comfort zone is a good thing. But what does that really mean?
It’s easy to romanticise the idea of pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone: You think about how much more you’ll grow, how much more you’ll learn, how much more exciting your life will become.
But when it comes down to actually doing it… well, sometimes we find ourselves wondering if we’re just being too hard on ourselves. After all, isn’t there something to be said for staying in our comfort zones?
We know there are many benefits to stepping out of our comfort zones—but they’re not always so obvious at first glance. In this post, I’ve shared 7 ways stepping out of your comfort zone can actually improve your wellbeing and help you achieve more success in life. There are many more reasons and benefits but I always say, start small and sustainable and always reflect on how it made you feel. Then you can do more!
