In today’s episode I’m talking about how to discover hobbies as an adult and the benefits of having a hobby as an adult.
When we’re young it’s easy for us to have hobbies – they’re usually suggested by our parents however, as we start doing more adulting, we soon forget about our hobbies – citing that we have no time to do them – and then fall into the spell of working and paying bills. Then, eating and drinking become our hobbies.
Dining out and socialising are NOT hobbies. They are a part of human connection which is a basic need for our existence.
In this show, I talk about what hobbies are, how they will benefit you and how you can start choosing which hobbies you’d like to introduce into your life.
Having hobbies as an adult
Definition of hobby – An activity done regularly in one’s leisure time for pleasure. So by this, the activity has nothing to do with anyone else and it is just something for us to do, for us.
What constitutes a hobby? Anything that doesn’t require the approval of anyone else. Examples include: sports, arts/crafts, music etc. Note, socialising/ community help/ family time are not hobbies.
How can having hobbies benefit your life?
You start unlocking your creative mind which helps with productivity and problem solving.
There is more fulfilment in your life, you start living with purpose.
It’s a great way to regularly Self care by doing things just for yourself.
Helps you to be excited about life rather than relying on others to do this for you.
