Exercise your mind and not just your body
In this episode I’m talking about why you should exercise your mind and not just your body.
This is a potentially controversial one but its been a while since I called out the wellness industry.
No matter how many posts and articles there are about raising the awareness of mental health barely anything really hits the nail when it comes to exercising your mind. The most you’ll get is meditation but if your mind is FULL, how on earth are you supposed to meditate and reap the benefits?
In this episode, I explore why exercising your mind is so beneficial right now and how that can help you move to the next steps in your life. If you keep doing self-care acts like signing up to online classes, meditation, yoga etc you’ll feel better on the surface. But your deeper problems will still be there.
Holistic medicine works well, holistically. You have to take care of your Mind, Body and Spirit for it to actually work!
Why is exercising your mind beneficial?
Everything is connected, you need to learn to control your mind through your thoughts and feelings.
Taking care of yourself allows you to be more aware but you need to address the root causes of your issues. Otherwise you’re just putting a plaster on your problems and you’ll repeat the same cycle over and over.
If you don’t, these painful beliefs will manifest as projections in all areas of your life. So in work, you’ll encounter the same problems, relationships with partners friends and family, even down to how you react to events and situation.
How can exercising your mind helps with direction?
Getting clear and focussed will help your mental wellbeing.
Knowing what holds you back from living the life you want to live gives you a starting point of what needs to be worked on.
Recognising your weaknesses allows room for growth, opportunities and happiness.
Being more self-aware will help you make more mindful choices and decisions.
You will build more confidence in yourself and your abilities to face adversities in life as well as to challenge and push yourself towards your desires.
What could happen if you don’t exercise your mind?
If you keep ignoring your problems, they will only get bigger and harder to manage. So recognising that there’s stuff you need to work on is the ultimate first step to releasing yourself of the magnitude. You may not eradicate them completely from your life. However, with the right therapy, you will learn to manage them better.
This is not about toxic positivity, this is about learning to connect all of the pieces that make you whole. And essentially not forgetting the mind whilst you’re at it.
